 	abstract = "The study of insects in urban area are concentrated to the species of medical importance or
 domestic associated, being the other neglected groups. In this context are the cicadas
 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae). The present work aimed to assessment some ecological relations of
 cicadas in an urban area of the municipality of Iporá, Goiás State, Brazil. In this work is
 shown the emergence pattern and seasonality of cicadas, record of its host plants, and, for the
 most abundant specie, also are shown the description and morphometric analysis of exúvias of
 the last instar, and some notes of acoustic behavior. In addition, aimed to develop a ethnoentomological study about cicadas in the urban perimeter of the municipality. Exuviae of the
 following species of cicadas were collected, Ariasa sp., Dorisiana metcalfi, Fidicina
 mannifera, Guyalna viridifemur, Guyalna nadae, Quesada gigas e Carineta sp.. The
 emergence of the majority of this species occurred at end of dry season. Cicadas have been
 associated with 22 host species of 11 botanical families. The most abundant species was
 Ariasa sp. (82%). This species showed differences metrics according to its host plant (F=
 6,005; p<0,01). The sound of Ariasa sp. consists of two parts with dominant frequency 5271
 Hz. For the mostly of residents, cicadas are categorized as a singer/noise insect that occurs
 seasonally depending on the seasons. The folk narratives about cicadas were related to
 meteorological variability and with the adjectives singer and lazy. Cicadas have value in
 environmental processes, agriculture and represent a symbolic value to humanity. Despite
 this, there is a lack of information for these insects in Brazil.",
